Activities
Friends of the Union Canal Tunnel Park Bus Trip, June 8–9, 2012
Travel with the Friends of the Union Canal Tunnel Park this summer for what promises to be an enjoyable weekend. Leaving Friday morning, June 8th, the group will travel to Lockport, New York for a ride on the Erie Canal passing through some really huge locks (as compared with the Union Canal). The next day the group will depart for Niagara Falls. Here the Friends will see the falls from a historic perspective from the Nation’s oldest State Park. The group will view the “Adventures of Niagara” at the visitors center before visiting Luna Island for spectacular views of the American and Bridal Veil Falls and then on to Goat Island for lunch at The Top of the Falls. Next it’s Terrapin Point, Three Sisters Islands, a ride on the world famous Maid of the Mist, and a stop at the NYS observation tower. From here the group will travel to Tonawanda and explore the Herschell Carrousel Museum – the only museum in the world housed in an authentic original carrousel factory building. On the way home Sunday, there will be a stop for lunch and a tour of the historic Lewisburg Hotel.
Friday and Saturday nights will be spent at the Comfort Inn, Niagara Falls. The price of the trip includes bus transportation, two nights lodging, two breakfasts, two lunches, one dinner, admission to the “Adventure of Niagara” movie, the ride on the Maid of the Mist, admission to the Carrousel Museum, guide service and gratuity, and the Erie Canal Lock cruise with a dinner buffet. Per person/double occupancy: $440.50; Single occupancy: $560.50 – based on at least 30 passengers.
The trip is open to the public and seats still remain, but you must make your reservation by April 30. Please call Kathleen Daubert at 717-273-2430 for more information.
