The Historical Society Gift Shop
The Gift Shop features our Society publications and other history books by local authors. We have a wide variety of items typical of Pennsylvania folk art such as pottery and tinware, baskets and coverlets, kitchen utensils, woodblocks, dolls and wooden toys. Come browse the locally hand-crafted merchandise from John Beamenderfer, Lester Breininger, Barbara Strawser, and Huberhaus. We have a fine selection of cook books and momentos related to our Pennsylvania German heritage, as well as souvenir items like pins, teeshirts, postcards, and mugs.
Books for Sale
The following list is a sample of the books by local authors and books of local historical interest which are available for purchase in the Gift Shop or by mail. We do not have the capacity for online ordering. Please mail your request and check, made payable to Lebanon County Historical Society. Add $4.00 postage and handling for the first book and $1.00 for each additional book. Pennsylvania residents add 6% sales tax. Featured Books new to the Gift Shop
Two new additions to Arcadia Publishing’s popular Images of America series feature local communities. Each book boasts more than 200 vintage images and memories of days gone by.
History of Annville Township Told Through Photographs from local author Paul M. Fullmer and the Friends of Old Annville. Annville Township, located on the north bank of Quittapahilla Creek, was originally settled in the 1720s by millers who made use of the creek’s power and surrounding farmland. As the town grew, several hotels were constructed; and in 1817, the Berks-Dauphin Turnpike was built as a toll road through the town. By 1840, Annville had 500 people, log and limestone houses, stores, taverns, churches, schools, and an academy.

History of Cornwall Told Through Photographs from local authors Charles Boyer and Robert Donley. Cornwall was founded in 1737 after a tremendous amount of iron ore was discovered in three hills. Mining started in earnest in 1742 when a charcoal furnace was constructed in Cornwall to smelt the iron ore. Operations of open pit and underground mining continued for more than 230 years until June 1972 when Hurricane Agnes flooded the mine. The iron ore was used to cast cannon and shot for the Continental army and later to construct our country’s buildings, bridges, and infrastructure.

Union Canal Tunnel Items
The Gift Shop also features several items that commemorate the Union Canal Tunnel, including teeshirts in adult and children’s sizes, sweatshirts, postcards, and woodblocks. You can support the efforts of the Friends of the Union Canal Tunnel Park by purchasing these items at the Gift Shop, at any Friends event, or at the Canal Boat Rides.
Hours of Operation
The Gift Shop is open whenever the Museum and Archives are open to the public, up to 15 minutes before closing time. The Historical Society is closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and all holidays. The building may be closed for inclement winter weather.
